Trophy Mule Deer, Elk, Bear

Here at Gypsum Creek, we build lifelong relationships, and many of our clients become like family. Located in the heart of the mountains in Eagle County, we limit our hunters in every season to offer the best experience possible, providing plenty of opportunities to harvest. Partnering with Bergara Rifles, Precision Hunting Supply, Huskemaw Optics, and more companies has brought our expertise to the next level. Having the experience, knowledge, and confidence in the mountains makes all the difference. We have a passion for this lifestyle and are truly blessed to call this our home! No matter what season you join us, you will be counting down the days to your return.

We offer Elk, Black Bear, and TROPHY Mule deer hunts in every season Colorado offers throughout the fall. For our specific unit, GMU 044, it produces some of the largest and most unique trophy-class mule deer in the lower 48. Each season provides limited tag numbers, with residents having to wait as many as 25+ years for the prime fourth rifle season tag. We work with landowners and can help clients find a landowner voucher if they choose not to go through the draw system. We spend the entire summer running trail cameras and scouting for these high-caliber deer. With limited deer tags available, we offer a 5, 7, or 9-day hunt depending on season dates. We limit our deer seasons to only two deer hunters per season. Whether your goal is an early-season buck in velvet with archery or muzzleloader, or a dark antlered hard-horned buck during the rut in the late rifle seasons. We are looking to harvest the biggest bucks in the unit.

Elk tags can be easily drawn for archery, muzzleloader, first rifle, and fourth rifle seasons, with OTC tags available during second and third rifle seasons. We guide bull or cow hunts and offer a 5 or 7-day hunt with a half-day before and after the hunt. We like to bring you in early in order for YOU to get situated, prepared, shoot your weapon, and give you plenty of time to reorganize and rest up before you head out. Typically, each hunt is guided one-on-one. We recommend that each archery or muzzleloader elk tag holder also come in with a bear tag, in case we run into a bear or have the opportunity to hunt their elk carcass.

We focus on rifle bear hunts in September and the first rifle season in October as well, separate from elk hunts for those who are solely interested in hunting bears. These are 5-day hunts, either spot and stalk in their fall food source, sitting a carcass or water, or even distress calling. Our unit has a high bear population and can produce very large trophy-size bears of all colors.

For every hunt we offer, we provide a range of accommodation options. Our base camp is located on the ranch up Gypsum Creek, with small modern cabins with full amenities available for our hunters, and wall tents set up near the cabins with full amenities for the hunters as well. Showers, outhouse, and camp dinner tents are all located just yards away from the cabins and tents. Clients are more than welcome to choose not to stay on site and bring a camper into dispersed campsites or stay in town. Every so often, there will be a time when a guide may choose to dive in deeper and camp in the backcountry. We are prepared to do whatever we need to do to make our hunts an experience you will never forget. Depending on the hunt and client's capabilities, we recommend each client bring gear that will allow them to camp in more remote locations and come prepared.
